Congratulations to the Allan Flames on winning their first Twin Rivers Hockey League Championship! Allan was the top team in the league this season with a regular season record of 17 wins, 2 losses and 1 overtime loss and a .844 win percentage.
In the quarter final series, they defeated the Cudworth Tricky Maroons in three games (best of 3). Next, the Flames faced the Birch Hills Blackhawks in the semi-final series. After falling behind 1 to 0 in the best of 5 series, they had three consecutive wins to move onto the Twin Rivers Hockey League final series.
The Flames faced the Western Division winners, the Willow Cree Chiefs, in the final series. They quickly jumped into a 2 to 0 series lead (best of 5). The Chiefs skated into Allan to take game 3 and a home ice championship win away from the Flames. However, Allan prevailed in game 4 with an 8 to 4 victory over Willow Cree, taking home the title and the cup.
The Playoff MVP was Robbie Hufnagel. He played in net for nine of the Flames’ 11 playoff games amassing a record of 8 wins and 1 loss. His Goals Against Average in the playoffs was 2.67, while his save percentage was .912. Robbie played outstanding in the playoffs and was a key contributor to Allan’s win. Congratulations Robbie!
